How to Play as a Cop in GTA 5 with No Mods

The only thing you could do to play as a cop in GTA 5 without any mods is to play in the “Director Mode”.

Director Mode in GTA 5 allows players to create movies or roleplay using in-game assets and characters.

This method requires you to enter story mode before accessing the character interaction menu of your selected protagonist.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can enter Director Mode:

• Press “M” on your keyboard to access the character interaction menu while in story mode.
• Scroll down to “Director Mode” with your arrow keys, then press enter.
• A message will appear saying you’re going into director mode, then press “Enter.”

After that, a movie trailer truck and a menu will appear. This section will determine how you want your settings to be and what character you want to play.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can play as a cop in GTA 5 using director mode:

• Go to the “Actor’s tab“, then press enter.
• Scroll down to “Emergency Services“
• Pick “LSPD“, then press the Enter key.

After that, you will be redirected to play as a police NPC. You can always steal a police car from a police station, but cops will shoot at you.

To avoid this, we recommend you change the settings for the wanted status to “Disabled“. Here are the steps to do that:

• Press “M” to bring up the “Director Mode” menu.
• Go to “Settings” and press the enter key.
• Scroll Down to “Wanted Status” and use the arrow keys to change it to “Disabled“.
• Press the “Space Bar” key to apply.

Don’t forget to explore all the options available on this menu. You can customize settings such as Locations, Actions, Dialogue, Actor, Garage, and more.

• Press “M” to spawn the Director mode menu.
• Go to “Settings” and scroll down to the wanted status option.
• Change it to “Low” using your arrow keys.
• Press the “Space Bar” key to apply.
• Now, press “Backspace” until you see the “Actors” tab.
• Change it to “Highway Patrol” and press the enter key to change.

This method doesn’t actually mean the cops are helping you. This is a bug that Rockstar hasn’t patched yet. Surprisingly, when you play as the highway patrol, the cops won’t shoot at you even if you have a wanted level.

Now, just find where the gang members are and try to annoy them to make them shoot you for roleplay. The police will be by your side, trying to stop them, making it look like a real shootout.
