GTA 6 Community Map Project: Everything You Need to Know

Are you tired of waiting for Rockstar’s official map release of GTA 6?

Don’t worry! The GTA 6 map is already a work in progress, thanks to a community already trying to figure it out!

What is the GTA 6 Community Map Project?

The GTA 6 Community Map Project is a group of skilled fans collaborating to share information and create a visual representation of the GTA 6 map.

Although Rockstar hasn’t said anything about the map itself, the community is responsible for making your imagination turn into reality.

How Does the Community Make The Map?

Basically, the fans in the community are gathering all the juicy stuff they can find from confirmed leaked sources. Furthermore, the GTA 6 trailer released on December 5, 2023, is a valuable source for the community.

The community also has a Discord server solely dedicated to creating the GTA 6 map project.

What is VIMAP?

VIMAP is a map project made by GTA fans to create maps for GTA 6 based on leaked information.

The map information is published on their official website, and all data is gathered to ensure the precise and reliable creation of the community’s GTA 6 map.

The VIMAP website is awesome because it shows fans what the GTA 6 map might look like when it is released in 2025.

In fact, some fans can’t believe how accurate the GTA 5 map project turned out. Some fans even say it is 90% accurate from the real one.

What Can You See From The Community Map?

As seen in this picture on Reddit, the elements depicted on the map include legends on the right side, speculations on locations, roads such as railways and highways, bodies of water, and more.

Update: On January 4, 2024, the latest version of the GTA 6 mapping project was released, providing the most accurate potential map for the game.

After the GTA 6 trailer dropped, the community continued working on the map project. The trailer made it easier for the community to find important spots like the state prison, beaches, suburbs, and more.

Apart from the GTA 6 trailer launching. A TikTok user has claimed that there will be three cities and sub-cities on the game map.

This information is like a gold mine for the community, as it proves what they’re working on.

1. Tampa or Miami?

There is a discussion regarding the location based on the trailer we just watched on December 5, 2023.

Some choose to believe that the shot of the trailer, where there is a freeway and the pink sunset, is based in Tampa. However, others also say that it is Miami.

2. Comparing GTA 6’s and GTA 5’s Map

As you can see in the picture below, the smaller map in the background is from GTA 5. It’s been stated that the GTA 6 map will be 70% larger than that of GTA 5.

Honestly, some fans are happy about it, but some would prefer the map to be smaller while maintaining higher quality.

The fans desire more accessible features such as accessible buildings or restaurants, gyms you can enter as in GTA: San Andreas, and more.

There’s also a recent rumor about the GTA 6 map seen in the artwork that Rockstar released alongside the GTA 6 trailer on December 5, 2023.

The map is very close in size to the one the GTA 6 Mapping Community is working on.

3. Gator Keys and Small Islands

You might have noticed that on the southern part of the map is where you will see the Keys and small islands that look like Key West in real life.

Although Key West is longer than the one in the GTA 6 map, it is remarkable to see that we will have a lot of islands on the map, which beach and boat lovers would enjoy.

Upon seeing the GTA 6 trailer, we noticed that the map resembles modern-day Miami. That’s why it’s no surprise they included small islands on this map.

4. Lake Leonida

It is also worth noting that Lake Leonida was one of the locations leaked way back in September 2022.

Also, here are some locations surrounding Lake Leonida that are also in the leaks:

Many fans believe that the lake should be in the middle of the map, but some also believe it should be at the top, similar to the one on the mapping project.

It’s also been leaked that the lake has been confirmed and will definitely be added in GTA 6. The leaker is said to be the same person who previously leaked aerial footage of GTA 6 on TikTok.

Some Redditors are also discussing that the lake is seen in the GTA 6 trailer. However, some believe it is not due to the mountains or hills surrounding it.

5. North Beach, South Beach, and Vice Beach

Located in the middle of the map are Vice Beach, South Beach, and North Beach. These locations also have some scenes in the trailer.

This is where Miami thrives in real life, and where tourists usually go. It comprises many buildings, restaurants, hotels, etc.

This will surely be one of the locations that GTA fans will want to take a screenshot of because it’s an iconic location from the previous title, GTA: Vice City.

6. Little Haiti, Rockridge, Downtown, and Vice City Port

As seen on the map, Little Haiti, Rockridge, Downtown, and Vice City Port are very close to each other.

Additionally, they are also very close to the beaches, connected by a highway.

It has also been mentioned in a thread that someone noticed a Haitian flag in the GTA 6 trailer, specifically when motorcycles are seen on the street doing wheelies.

On the other hand, downtown is seen from afar, where you can see a girl in a convertible car on the freeway and the aerial night shot from the Venetian Islands.

The Vice City port will be somewhat close to downtown, and the beach will be seen at 0:23 in the GTA 6 trailer.

You will notice that it is also near a highway or bridge that appears to connect to the beaches.

7. Port Gellhorn and State Prison

The Northwestern part of the map likely depicts the real-life location of Tampa, Florida. It’s said that Port Gellhorn will attempt to mimic Tampa, situated close to the state prison, just like in real life.

A Redditor also believes that Port Gellhorn is Tampa as well. He also added that the story would possibly begin there, which is near the prison.

The Redditor also thinks this is where Lucia and Jason will start their criminal careers.

8. Grass RIvers and Hamlet

Checking out the wildlife in GTA 6 is pretty cool, especially around the Grass Rivers area, which is basically Miami’s Everglades National Park.

You will see this one on the southern part of the map near the Gator Keys.

There are also a lot of areas near the Grass Rivers where some locations are seen in the leaks and the trailer.

Also, Grass Rivers is not far from a town called Hamlet, where that lady with the two hammers lives. Plus, you can’t miss the sewage plant nearby and the highway heading up north.

9. Vice City International Airport

At 0:24 in the GTA 6 trailer, a sign saying “VCI Airport” can be seen pointing towards the downtown of Vice City. This led us to believe that the airport is near downtown, at the center of the map.

In the trailer, we can also see that the Kaseya Center, known as the Miami Heat Arena, is situated on the left side, making the airport very close to the map grid.

We also see an airplane flying at 0:31 in the trailer, heading towards downtown Vice City. Although the airport is not visible in the trailer, our Mapping Community is on the right track regarding its location.

10. Leaf Links and Locations Near the Ocean

In the middle of the map grid, next to the Vice City Port, is called the Leaf Links. It is a golf course based on the game GTA: Vice City, which many believe will be carried over to GTA 6.

It will be located on an island near Crandon Park Tennis Center, and some small buildings on the shore.
