I know it may sound like a meme when you first read it, but hear me out. According to an insider, Rockstar Games is testing whether GTA 6 will be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Do you want to know if the portable console will eventually be able to play these types of games? Let us dive in and find out!
FACTS: On June 5, 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 was officially released. Pre-orders started on April 24, 2025, and the next day, June 6, the product was officially available on the Target app and website.
GTA 6 and Nintendo Switch 2
We all know how powerful GTA 6 is, and some GTA 6 fans are sceptical that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be able to handle it. But, of course, that’s just some fans trolling because they’re upset that GTA 6 has been delayed again, and they’re linking it to the upcoming PS6 or PlayStation 6.

Now the question is whether the Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to handle such a massive game in 2026. According to an insider, Rockstar Games is trying to test GTA 6 on the Nintendo Switch 2.
Another insider claimed that the GTA 6 delay is not related to the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 port, and it will not be available on launch day, November 19, 2026.
Will Nintendo Switch 2 Succeed at Playing GTA 6?
Technically, the Nintendo Switch 2 is more powerful than its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch 1. In fact, a YouTube comparison video claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 is graphically superior to the PS4 and comparable to the PS5.

So, if you ask me, I think a GTA 6 port on the Nintendo Switch 2 might be possible! Although we should all take this rumor with a grain of salt.
Conclusion
GTA 6 is by far the most advanced game I’ve ever seen, both visually and technologically. Even the PS5 will have a difficult time processing it when it is released, and I believe this is why Rockstar keeps delaying the game.
However, we also do know how Rockstar optimizes their games that even an old PC or laptop can run GTA 5 to this date in low settings!
Now that Rockstar is attempting to port it to the Nintendo Switch 2, it is not guaranteed that it will be released on the portable console, so keep that in mind. I believe they are simply testing whether it will work or not before deciding whether to scrap the idea.
