The three protagonists are not the only ones who made this game more popular and well-known. In fact, some characters are more popular than the protagonist itself, like Lamar Davis.

1. Steven Ogg – Trevor Philips

Trevor Philips, one of the protagonists in GTA 5, is often perceived as a maniac by many, yet he remains a favorite among some gamers.

Steven Ogg appeared in several short films and popular TV shows, including “Third Watch” and “Law & Order“, before he played Trevor in GTA 5.

However, his performance in GTA 5 as Trevor was a significant turning point in his career. That’s why you might have seen him in popular TV shows like “The Walking Dead“, “Better Call Saul“, and “Westworld“.

Steven Ogg even won the New York Videogame Critics Circle award in the “Best Overall Acting in a Game” category in 2014 and has been nominated for five more categories from 2013 to 2014.

2. Ned Luke – Michael De Santa

Another protagonist you will surely know is Michael De Santa. He is a criminal who was friends with Trevor and Brad in 2004 when they robbed Ludendorff Bank.

In that timeline, he is known as Michael Townley. After faking his death to live in peace with his family in Los Santos, he changed his name to Michael De Santa.

Ned Luke is the one who played the voice actor of this criminal and made this character alive.

Before Ned Luke became famous with his voice as Michael De Santa, he was known as Raffles in the animated musical comedy film “Rover Dangerfield” in 1991. You will also see him in the movie “The Nutty Professor” as a construction worker.

Aside from Grand Theft Auto 5, he even voiced various strangers in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.

He also got nominated for the Behind the Voice Actors Award for “Best Vocal Ensemble in a Video Game.”

3. Shawn Fonteno – Franklin Clinton

The last protagonist of this game is Franklin Clinton, a hustler for money who functions as a repossession man for his boss, Simeon.

After the prologue, GTA 5’s first tutorial mission is with Franklin and his best friend, Lamar Davis. In this mission, they need to deliver two sports cars safely to Simeon’s shop.

Franklin and Michael first met when Michael caught Franklin trying to take his SUV from his mansion in Los Santos.

Shawn Fonteno also appeared in the 2001 comedy movie “The Wash” with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg as the character named “Face“.

Before Shawn Fonteno became Franklin’s voice in GTA 5, he was the voice of a Grove Street Family member in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Surprisingly, Shawn Fonteno’s cousin, Young Maylay, gained popularity for his role as the voice of Carl “CJ” Johnson.

4. Jay Klaitz – Lester Crest

A popular side character in GTA 5 is Lester Crest. He is also known as “Long John Teabag” and is the brain of all the heists Michael, Trevor, and Franklin go to.

He is a geek who knows a lot about technology and strategy, so he is the one assigned to plan all the heists.

Jay Klaitz is the one behind this mastermind’s voice. He also appeared in a lot of popular TV shows like “Law & Order“, “The Blacklist“, etc.

He is also a voice actor in games like Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony.

5. Gerald “Slink” Johnson – Lamar Davis

Lamar Davis is a supporting character who is among the most beloved personalities in GTA 5. He is the best friend of Franklin, one of the protagonists.

He is also a repossession man who works with Franklin for Simeon’s shop. Unfortunately, when Michael came and ruined his shop, both of them got fired.

Gerald Johnson, also known as “Slink,” is the one who voiced Lamar Davis. You will also recognize Gerald as the one who played Jesus Christ in the popular TV show called “Black Jesus” in 2014.

6. Ryan Woodle – Brad Snider

Brad Snider is a side character that you won’t care that much about because he died too fast in the “Prologue” mission. However, his death affects the whole GTA 5 story.

Trevor is much closer to Brad than Michael, which is why the FBI hid his death and told Trevor he was in prison.

Ryan Woodle is the one behind this character’s voice. He also appeared in many TV shows and movies, according to IMDB.

He also featured in well-known films and television series such as “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt“, “Daredevil“, “The Box“, “In the Heights“, “West Side Story“, etc.

7. Danny Tamberelli – Jimmy De Santa

Jimmy De Santa is Michael’s son in GTA 5. He’s portrayed as a stubborn, introverted kid who spends most of his time playing video games in his room and smoking pot.

He inadvertently becomes the connection between Michael and Franklin because he’s the one who purchased the SUV from Simeon, who happens to be Franklin and Lamar’s boss.

The voice actor of Jimmy is known as Danny Tamberelli; you might know him from the TV series “The Amanda Show“ with Amanda Bynes.

He was also popular from 1989 – 1995 as Little Pete in the American sitcom called “The Adventures of Pete & Pete“.

He became super famous for playing Jimmy De Santa, even though he’d been in lots of TV and movies before that.

8. Vicki Van Tassel – Amanda De Santa

One of the most hated characters in GTA 5 is Amanda De Santa. She is the wife of Michael, who left him because she couldn’t stand Michael’s secrets and criminal activities anymore.

Later, Amanda reunited with Michael with the help of Jimmy, their son. To make this happen, Jimmy told his dad that Amanda is not happy anymore with Fabien, her “Yoga Coach“.

Vicki Van Tassel is the one who voiced Amanda De Santa, she is not that famous and well-known, but GTA 5 made her famous for using her voice to annoy Michael.

9. Michal Sinnott – Tracey De Santa

Another annoying character you will encounter is Tracey De Santa, Michael’s daughter. She is a spoiled, stubborn girl who is Jimmy’s older sister.

Tracey is the one who always gets in trouble, like the event when she was on a yacht to shoot a video.

There was also an event when Trevor and Michael saved her from humiliation on national TV on a reality show called “Fame or Shame,” hosted by Lazlow Jones.

The actress who played the annoying Tracey is Michal Sinnott. She is a well-known actress and screenwriter.

10. Robert Bogue – Steve Haines

Steve Haines is a corrupt FIB agent paid by wealthy individuals to carry out their illicit tasks. One of his clients is Devin Weston.

Michael’s FIB contact is Dave Norton, while Dave’s superior is Steve Haines. This connection explains why, later in the story, you encounter this corrupt official who introduces you to a wealthy man named Devin Weston.

The voice actor portraying this corrupt FIB official is Robert Bogue. Robert is well known for his roles in numerous TV series, movies, and games.

Some of the popular TV series he’s been part of include “House of Cards” and “Homeland.” He has appeared in movies like “Project Pay Day” and “Rock Story.”

Notably, he has also lent his voice to games such as Star Wars 1313, GTA 5, GTA IV: Ballad of Gay Tony, Red Dead Redemption, and Red Dead Revolver.

11. Jonathan Walker – Devin Weston

Devin Weston is an American billionaire and businessman who holds substantial shares in major companies, including Merryweather Security.

Later in the story, Michael, Trevor, Franklin, and even Lamar Davis encounter this billionaire and request special tasks from them in exchange for money.

Jonathan Walker is the voice behind this sinister billionaire. He was recognized for his roles in numerous movies and TV shows before taking on the persona of Devin Weston.

To this day, he continues his acting career, appearing as Edward Kyles in “The Blacklist,” as Tyler Erikson in “The Endgame,” and as Senator Randolph in “Daredevil“.

12. David Mogentale – Ronald Jakowski

Ronald Jakowski, or “Ron,” is a neighbor and associate of Trevor in Trevor Philips Enterprises.

When Trevor went to Los Santos to confront Michael, he made Ron the CEO of the company during his absence.

Being a paranoid individual, Ron has set up a podcast called “Blaine County Radio Community Hour.” In this podcast, he listens to various conspiracy theories from other callers.

The voice behind this acting CEO of Trevor’s company is none other than David Mogentale.

You may recognize him from movies and TV series such as “Paterno” and “Elementary.” Additionally, he has appeared in three Rockstar games: GTA 5, GTA Online, and Red Dead Redemption.

13. Matthew Maher – Wade Herbert

Wade Herbert is Trevor’s loyal companion and friend. Additionally, he is acquainted with Ron and is the cousin of Floyd and Dax.

Wade is also the one located Michael Townley, who now goes by Michael De Santa, in Los Santos. This discovery made Trevor very angry because he had mourned Michael’s death long ago.

Wade Herbert’s voice actor is Matthew Maher, who also portrayed “Norex” in the famous Marvel movie, “Captain Marvel.”

Moreover, he has appeared in numerous movies and TV shows. In addition to his iconic role as Wade Herbert in GTA 5, he is also part of the popular game “The Division 2.”

According to IMDB, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in the movie “Funny Pages” in 2022.
