Analyst Says GTA 6 Should Have Been $200, Not $80!

The conversation around GTA 6 pricing just took an unexpected turn. While many gamers are still adjusting to the game’s $80 launch price, one industry analyst believes Rockstar could have gone much higher.

In fact, he suggested that GTA 6 could be worth as much as $200, sparking plenty of reactions from fans online. Do you think the price he said is reasonable? Let’s find out below!

Why an Analyst Thinks GTA 6 Could Cost More

Ben Thompson, a tech analyst, believes GTA 6 is unlike any other game on the market. With over a decade of anticipation, a massive development budget, and one of the largest fanbases in gaming, he argues that Rockstar has the reputation and demand to justify a much higher price.

He quoted, “They should be charging like $200 for this game! GTA 6 is like the last great game.”

He also said, “It was mostly all made pre-AI. It is the pinnacle of AAA craftsmanship. Years and years and years of blood, sweat, and tears. To the extent where you have the Twitter analysts, like, counting cigarette butts outside Rockstar’s offices to see how much crunch they’re in.”

Also, he suggested that a premium price could include added value, such as in-game currency, exclusive GTA Online content, or long-term bonuses that would keep players engaged well beyond the main story.

The Gaming Community Isn’t Convinced

The idea of paying $200 for a single game didn’t sit well with many players. Even before the analyst’s comments, some fans felt that the confirmed $80 price tag was already pushing the limits of what most gamers are willing to spend.

Not to mention the ultimate edition that will charge about $100 for new contents like limited edition cars, guns, clothes, mod shops, salons, etc.

As the suggestion spread online, social media quickly filled with jokes, memes, and criticism. Many players argued that while GTA 6 is expected to be one of the biggest game releases ever, no title should cost as much as several AAA games combined.

Our Final Take

Rockstar has officially priced GTA 6 at $80 for the standard edition and $100 for the ultimate edition, making the $200 suggestion purely hypothetical.

Still, the discussion highlights how influential the franchise has become and how closely the gaming community watches every decision surrounding its release. For now, most players agree on one thing; they’re excited for GTA 6, but they’re much happier paying $80 than $200.

Additionally, to prevent being scammed online, only place preorders at Amazon, the PS Store, or the Xbox Store rather than on unreliable websites.
