GTA 6 on a Steam Machine? Experts Believe It Could Actually Happen!

We still don’t know when GTA 6 will officially make its way to PC, but that hasn’t stopped fans from wondering what hardware will be able to run it when it finally does.

One of the more interesting discussions right now is whether Valve’s upcoming Steam Machine could handle Rockstar’s biggest game yet. And surprisingly, some analysts think it actually could. Let’s find out!

Why People Think the Steam Machine Can Run GTA 6

On paper, Valve’s new Steam Machine is shaping up to be pretty powerful. It’s reportedly designed to deliver performance that’s somewhere in the same ballpark as current-gen consoles, which is important because GTA 6 is being built primarily for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

That doesn’t mean you’ll be cranking every setting to Ultra at 4K, though. Most of the speculation points toward a more realistic experience: lower graphics settings, upscaling technologies like FSR, and performance targets similar to what we’ll see on consoles.

The Bigger Problem Might Not Be the Graphics Card

According to some analysts, GTA 6’s biggest challenge isn’t necessarily the GPU; it’s the CPU. Rockstar’s massive open world, advanced AI systems, traffic simulation, and physics could end up being the real bottleneck, which is why many believe even powerful hardware may struggle.

That’s also why there’s growing speculation that 30 FPS could be the standard experience for GTA 6, with a possible 40 FPS mode becoming the sweet spot for players who want smoother gameplay without sacrificing too much visual quality.

FINAL THOUGHTS

At the end of the day, this is all still speculation. Rockstar hasn’t revealed the PC version’s requirements yet, and we don’t even have an official release date for GTA 6 on PC.

But if Valve’s new Steam Machine really delivers performance close to current-gen consoles, there’s a good chance it could become an interesting option for players who want to experience Vice City without spending thousands on a high-end gaming rig.

Until Rockstar shares more details, though, we’ll just have to keep imagining how GTA 6 will perform outside of consoles.
